I have been seeing quite a bit of discussion of breaking artSIG into catagorized SIG's or starting a whole little flock of SIG's. Now lets see, we have photoSIG, and artSIG. But I have see suggestions and opinions that would lead to charcoalSIG, paintSIG, drawingSIG, sculptSIG, craftSIG, digitalphotoSIG, 3DrenderSIG, inkSIG, adinfinitum< I think I spelled that right> Now, in order to write a decent critique, takes a bit of time and thinking anyway. Do you really think, that making people that presently are able to browse all the entries, and at least be exposed to the different arts, would really spend the time to go to many different sigs and spend any significant time there? Not realistically. I wholeheartedly believe, that in the coming together of so many different views, disciplines, artforms, crafters and philosophies of thought, is the very richness that the SIG as a venue, offers. Divide it and it will die. My opinion of course. And that does not even address the massive problems with digital tools, versus tradtional tools. An example. If I use a good tool, meaning a computer powerful enough, with a decent tablet and a really well crafted painting software designed to provide tradition tools in a digital format, and I create a watercolor, on a blank canvas, then print it onto watercolor paper, and I then create a similar image, using traditional brushes, watercolors and on the same paper, which is watercolor work? If I then scan or otherwise digitize the traditional watercolor, and submit them both to the SIG, how should I catagorize them? Both, in the end, on the SIG, are digital formats. An image on a screen. And if I exhibit both works, mounted as watercolors should be, at a gallery, which is a watercolor work? Now lets go one further. I arrange to have prints pulled from both works. Now which prints are watercolor and which are digital?
Hmmmmmmmmmm?

Equinox Goddess
Partially because I want to present a purely photographic image, that I for one consider to be an artist's vision, chuckle. Especially having been the one that created it, chuckle... and I sincerely support that photography can be fine art. Though I do think the rigid application of rules and artistic schools of philosophy can be distracting from the real journey. Anyway, this was photographed on the Western Cliffs near Yellow mountain. Not far outside Highlands, NC. To take this photo, required climbing the mountain, and setting up on the cliff face, which frankly is a bit narrow and has a pretty steep area on the bald which is the only place you can set up, then work in the very short time of the sunset, and arrange for having a subject open and self confident enough to pose nude in the sunset, and knowing that we have to also get back down the mountain in the dark, non of which are simple things.
My very special thanks to a goddess, daughter of a goddess, and a very special spirit, that danced a magical dance, in a magical moment, and brought forth wonder and beauty for moment in a journey filled with light, and dark, joys and pain, and in a time that marked once again a new direction in my own journey.

I was hoping to be able to do some trail hiking this weekend, after the rains and heavy thunderstorms pass, but I doubt it will be possible with this cold. At least I managed to get some good waterfall images and trilliums, jack in the pulpits and such wednesday when I went up on the Bertram trail. Anyway, I feel for Sil, having added a bit of weight myself and trying to get my activity level back up where it should be is not fun, especially with an illness dragging on your life also.
However, spring is finally settling into the mountains, and it is time to go forth and start exploring again. All I need is my backpack full of camera gear and trail gear, a willing and enthusiastic nude companion, and lots of film, chuckle...

-Thea<
Thea and I have been conversing, as is the way of medicine carriers, even to the pain it may cause us both, but in these sharings, comes revelation and insight, and this one is meant to be heard.
------------------------------
Most of the ones with that ability, are corrupted by the invader. Their infection will cause them to fail in the end. The cleansing this time will be deeper than it has ever been. And man may not survive this one.
One of the messages I seem to carry within, is that the children of the earth, and the allies from outside, must free themselves from the Mandream and its illusions, and return to the animal, and that is beyond most of the human spirits I have seen so far.
The lesson of Coyote is the wearing of the face of the illusion, while being the Contrary in the real.
The lesson of Wolf is to be true to your pack, your tribe, your family, and your true nature, at any cost.
The lesson of the Crow, is to carry your medicine in the darkness, for the light is corrupt, and to become the flock that is Many, even while they are One.
The lesson of the Turtle, is to prepare your home, and for your home to be you. To return to Clan, and Tribe, and the connections with the waters and the Land.
The lesson of the Raven, is to see beyond the world, to open eyes to the distant Sisters, Brothers, and to see beyond skin, be it furred, scaled, winged, or naked hairless ape, the spirit within.
The lesson of the Snake, to move with silence and power, ready and able to protect the Tribe and the Clan, to be one with rock and bush, and to serve the People.
The lesson of the Badger, is to dig and defend, to bring to the home stones, and the sacred mountains, the places of power and communion, again their sacredness, that they are there, not for us, but we are there to protect and honor them.
The lesson of Dragonfly, is to shatter the illusions, even as you spin them, to expose and shred the lies and the Mandream, to see the evil that cloaks itself in light and righteousness, as it kills in bright blood, even its own children. To kill the Dream, that is a Nightmare.
The lesson of Deer, is to survive, despite the Mandream, to empower the herd to race beyond the reach and power of the killer man. And when needed, to come again, to feed and nurture the Circle of Earth's Children and the Medicine Holders with their flesh, and their blood.
The lesson of Buffaloe, is that peace will only come with total transformation, and the erasure of the Mandream beneath the hooves of the White Bearer of Justice. The White Buffaloe is not, in this age, a sign of Peace. But is rather a sign of the Justice of Lies, and only when this Honor is purged and the Hills of the People, are once again Sacred to all the Circle, and the sickness and the evil that parades in the flesh of the people, is destroyed, then, and only then, can the true White Buffaloe return. For She, is a woman, and a spirit, and carrier of a Sacred Medicine beyond any that is remembered. The knowing of the now, is but a dim recollection of the story that was true.
There is more, but it is beyond my strength at this time....
Blessings,
Marion

How to explain... having my work, be turned into things that I need to exist in this world. is important... I intellectually understand that.
But what actually benefits me is the creation of it. That more than anything you can imagine, is what keeps me alive. The dance only exists in the very performance and interpretation of the music. It cannot stand still, and where it has been, and the shadows it has cast, have no meaning to the dance, nor is the dancer important, only the very act of the dance itself has life. It is more than being a vessel, it is being a vessel in the act of pouring forth, and in that way, and that way only, can it never become empty.

Chicken Rotini Soup...
Quart of home made fresh chicken stock. - I made mine with leg quarters, large onion, about a half bunch of celery chopped into coarse chunks, handful of carrots cut into three or four chunks each. Bit of basil, Poultry Magic seasoning, shot of kosher salt.
Anyway... once the stock is available, strained and all that.
One quart of stock, one lb of Rotini. This is too much for the one quart in normal cooking so you will have to stay with it and stir it to keep the pasta in the liquid and so that it will cook properly. However, it is just right for making a lovely treat. If you feel you need a little more liquid, then just add a little HOT! water to the pot as you need. When you have the pasta to your pleasure, I like mine a bit past the al dente stage, sprinkle with kosher salt to taste and add a good teaspoon or two of poultry magic spice to taste. Serve with a nice crusty bread...
Yum

"I read them. Yes there are people that will not read them. And often, those are the very people that make comments that are not useful, or are totally out in their ivory tower illusions somewhere. Tells me instantly to toss their comments in the discount bin, as they have far less value to me, than those that are willing to take the time to try and understand the artist, as a whole, the body of work, not one postage stamp, in a sea of literature, and that I can communicate with.
When you look at my work, you are coming into my world, into what I see, experience and set before you. No great messages, no grand designs. Just life. Don't allow those that will not see, deafen you with their cries of self imposed blindness. "
Hmmmmm good quote.. got to put that one in my notes. chuckle...
