Ivan and all that..
Little damage to the house and yard, nothing major, more than a little stress and tiredness though. The area is in a pretty damaged state though, Biltmore Village flooded again as did the city of Clyde, Canton, Bryson City, Hot Springs and others. I - 40 got a huge chunk taken out of it at about mile marker 4 near the Tenn. border where the Pigeon River ate the base of it away.

An entire community in Franklin near where I used to live slide down the mountain in a massive mudslide that killed several and destroyed most of the houses.

The French Broad flooded again which means all the artists studios down in the river district where underwater again, and they had a large landslide on the Blue Ridge Parkway that took out an entire section of the road, up near Mt. Mitchell. Quite a bit of damage overall from the looks of it, and of course the storm continued up north doing a lot of damage as it went.. Ohio, WVa, and so on.... Nature is being very pointly nasty. I doubt though that man will pay any real attention. To be blunt, I think those that have decided to pack up what they can and move are the only ones that are really being realists... but we all know how that goes, build right back on the beach, the flood plain, the edge of the cliff, and do more damage, use more resources and be right back to being a target. sigh....

in other news... I am happy to report a small, but definate crop of purple beans, even though I planted them much too late and in a not very good place at all, they are really very nice beans.. :) Next year, I will have canning jars full... I took down all but one of my feeders, but I still have one or two hummers so I am leaving one up in the tree next to the window for them as long as they use it. Had to make some fresh hummer juice though, I used up the last of it just after the storm.

May we all be well, and may we all learn to actually listen to what the world tries to tell us.

Well, this time we got the flooding, and the wind, Ivan caused quite a bit more damage than Frances. Interstate 40 actually washed away, Biltmore Village, the city of Clyde and Canton flooded out, Candler was badly damaged, and an entire neighborhood near Franklin slid several thousand feet down the side of the mountain destroying 30 some homes and killing an number of people. So it has been busy.. that is for certain. Power is back on here, though there are still about 70,000 in the area with out power and this is not nearly as bad as the gulf coast where Ivan came a shore. There, entire communities have been completely destroyed and over a million people are with out power, water or anything else. And yet man continues to build where only nature should be, and where they certainly have seen the same thing happen time and time again. Sad in many ways.

well, back to work, lots to clean up and a great deal to catch up with.

Do check out the ART of ZEN, a really great idea for a community dedicated to nude arts, artist models and figural artists.

Well... Biltmore Village, at the bottom of the hill is underwater... the main water lines into Asheville have broken and West, North and Eastern Asheville are without water. Interestingly, while I am less than a mile from the broken lines, we have water since we are to the south of the break.

Power was out for quite a while, but most of that seems to be back on, though the river district, where a lot of artists had their studios is underwater since the French Broad River was 8 feet over flood stage. And the river that runs through Biltmore was at least 6 ft over, maybe more.

Canton suffered a lot of damage, losing most of their city services buildings and a lot of damage to the roads. Hendersonville had a great deal of flooding and a large area of the lower section is quit deep. Clyde, had the entire downtown underwater from the Pigeon river.. quite a mess. Such is the life along the river. The worst they say in 25 years.

"Expression of a Mountain Goddess"
When I was first living in North Carolina, I was blessed to live with a unique and wonderful companion that touched and shaped my journey in life, as I believe I have touched hers. There was much she taught me, and through spirit touched my journey. This is from a summer afternoon, on the mountain property, near Bear Lake in western North Carolina. She had just washed her hair and was contemplating the spirits of the forest at our home altar on the edge of the grove our homesteading camp was in.

Art is the journey of the mind, seeking to find the heart within the soul. From that journey comes the finding of Spirit and the connection with the Universe. © 2004 Marion Z. Skydancer

At least, in my own journey this is the way of art, for there is in my life, no life but the art, and in the art, no art but life.

If you have any love for the art of sculpture, especially the really awesome work that some of the doll makers and crafters of fantasy work are doing these day, you simply have to visit Jill. Just click here Jill Willich

Her work is simply fabulous.

I also get totally tickled by the works of Ursula Vernon

I especially got tickled and a little thoughtful about the Valley of the Wang
My friend Dara might understand, she might.

Jessica is another friend and fabulous artist, her primary medium being colored pencil, and lately custom dolls she is making of her trademarked creations. Jessica

Therese Larsson does some of the most incredible animal paintings.... Angel Eyes

And there are many more, but tis late and thus for another day.
Blessings to each and may the coming harvest be good to you all.
Marion
